playing itunes library from external hard drive

I followed the Apple guidelines for consolidating transferring my library from Computer A to an external drive. These: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1364

I now want to play my library on Computer B directly from the hard drive.

In the iTunes settings on Computer B, I changed the media folder location to my external hard drive folder. After doing so, my music does not appear in iTunes on Computer B.

I have read other threads in these forums indicated that the above is all I need to do.

What am I doing wrong?

You need to actually add the music to the library on compter B as well. I think it's File -> Add to library.

They wont automatically update on each computer though.

I would recommend iTunes Match for syncing libraries.

How did you solve your issue?

I'm having exactly the same problem, and I can't just add song by song to the iTunes Library. I have a 1 TB external Hard Drive full with a special music collection.

If you solved your problem it would be very nice if you could help me.
