Playing locally stored mp3s on Apple Watch 8?

Hi all
looking for suggestions on how to play a set of mp3s locally via AW8? not looking for streaming solutions, needs to be independent of iPhone. I was thinking to use VLC or something similar but there is no watchOS app. what apps do you recommend for this?
 
Both Apple Music and Spotify will allow you to download music directly to your watch.
 
Yeah but I don’t want to deal w subscriptions. I have some mp3s locally that I just want to play on Apple watch
