I have just bought a JVC Everio camcorder. These camcorders are the hard drive type (no tapes or DVD's)
Now the camcorder comes with some software quite similar in appearance to iMovie HD (similar looking interface) the supplied software is fairly easy to use and quite simple to burn to DVD. However the playback of movies on the MBP is a bit of a ballache. I would like to be able to play the movies in say Quicktime. I have a folder on the desktop that contains all the movies taken so far. All the movies taken have two files asscociated, one with a .MOD and one with a .MOI file type. The .MOD is the movie with sound. I have tried to rename them with a MPEG and then open with quicktime but quicktime comes back with an unable to play selected file.
As far as I am aware the file type is mpeg2.
Any ideas??
