I got some vid files to play in my vlc player and now i'm trying to get rar vid file to play. Can some one please give me advice?

A rar file is a compressed file, like a zip file. First, you need to uncompress it, with something like StuffIt. Then you can play the file inside. StuffIt Expander is also free.

press command-shift-4 then space and take a screenshot of the folder where the original rar files are. then click the attachment icon in a new post and attach the screenshot from your desktop.

Still lost!

If there is no password for the .RAR file, then the best software is The Unarchiver. Download that, then open the .RAR file you downloaded with it. It will then be extracted, and the extracted file will be in the same location as the .RAR file (your downloads folder perhaps).

Then open the video file with VLC Player.

I downloaded unarchiver drag it to apps opened it selected rar went into downloads scrolled to my rar file noticed it had adopted the the unarchiver icon, click on the file I got a downloads bar for about 2 seconds, Then I I tried to play the file in vlc, but no dice. Perhaps it is the file. I will try a new file. I have much ti learn and this forum has help a great deal. Kilamite is this less vague? Did I elaborate to you're liking? I'm not on my own I have gathered a lot online support. Kilamite, Don't repy if my post are not to you're liking!

Hey guys I got it. It plays in quick time and real player. When I discovered I had the file, I noticed it was a rm or wmv file and would not play in vlc. Thanks everyone.
