Hi

A friend brought a CD with a .avi file he wanted to show (no it was not porn!). I found in this forum that I should download a player and downloaded the mplayer (i think it was called)

When I played the movie the sound got more and more unaligned from the pictures. The pictures bumped and eventually it was not possible to decipher the sound.

I did go into the preferences and select buffering and "skip frames on slow computers". This caused sound and picture to be aligned, but it was skipping quite a lot of frames

Can it be true that the PB is not cabable of playing back a video? Im new to Mac is there something I missed?

(Using 10.3.9 with 1GB RAM)

There will be a plug-in somewhere that will let you play avi files in quicktime I imagine. If I find anything I will let you know. I have had the same problem over the years and it is damn annoying! I do remember an application called avi 2 mov I think. It converted avi's to mav files so you can play them in quicktime.

Try this:
