Hi all,

Would the 11" MBA with 4GB ram have any issues with playing videos via VLC (downloaded media, not streaming media)? What about if hooked up to a projector and projecting them via VLC?

Would it handle streaming video on YouTube well?

Do the current GPUs affect either of these things? Also would whether I have an i5 or i7 processor effect either of these things or the ability to multitask? (Assuming I pick the 4GB ram regardless.)

I recall someone saying 1080p videos lag a bit for them sometimes, but wasn't sure if this was due to the GPU/RAM/or what. I'm more concerned with the playing videos on VLC as this is what I tend to do most when showing media via my computer (currently an MBP).

TIA!

Thank you, everyone!! :) I have to do this for work sometimes, so need to make sure it is doable since the main purpose of this computer would be for work. :p

Playback of most all videos is perfect.

I work in visual fx and I have also worked on uncompressed 2k frames and playback was ultra smooth!

I play 1080p videos from an external HDD with no system lag all the time.

Great to hear. TY!

problem

Hi,
I have some problem in playing HD video from Youtube via Safari. Freezes and lags are common. After turning off Flash block addon things became better.
For playing already saved videos there are not any problems.

No, we're in 2012 and you're buying expensive Apple products, it will work.

LOL. Thanks :p I just like to double check these things.

Kishi Kaisel - you are right about modern computers being pretty overpowered for average tasks. Good to know the MBA is more powerful than I realized.
