iPod touch Playlist issues..

Hello. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. When I make a playlist directly on the ipod touch 4 (32G) and then I hook it to itunes (I have a macbook-purchased in Oct 2010), itunes will not recognize the playlist. Itunes will delete the playlist I have made on the actual ipod. I have to make the playlists all over again when I hook it up. This is really frustrating me! Is this a bug?
