Hello everyone,
(note: the following 2 paragraphs are background info, but they aren't too important, skip them if you don't care and just want to see my actual question)
I am a music major, and because of this I have tons of classical music on my computer. Its getting to the point to where I really need to get it organized, as it is incredibly difficult to find music within my library now. I finally decided to do it when I visited my friend (also a music major) who ordered his music in the following manner: A playlist folder for the Composer (ie. "Schubert"), then a single playlist for each work, ordered by some sort of category number if availible, then the name (ie. "D. 958 Piano Sonata No. 19 in C minor").
Now, my friend uses Mac, and the previous system works flawlessly. I use Windows 7, and the ordering system on iTunes seems to work a little differently. His computer recognizes an entire number as a single entity, and sorts accordingly, whereas mine only recognizes the first differing number when it sorts. So, for example, on my computer, a playlist starting with "D. 96" would come after "D. 958," since 6 comes after 5.
So, my question is this: Is there any way to tweak the settings of iTunes so that, when ordering playlists alphabetically, it counts an entire number as a single "character" instead of only the first numeral that differs? Since this seems to be the default way iTunes handles it on the Mac, I suspect that it has something to do with the way Windows itself handles ordering, in which case, I'd have to tweak those settings (which I'm willing to do).
Anyways, I really appreciate any help!
