Playlist Question

This feels like a stupid question, so please forgive me, but how do I backup playlists that were created on my iPhone? I don't use Apple Music at all, if that matters.

If I'm not mistaken, syncing to iTunes will transfer playlists that I've made on iTunes to my iPhone but not vice versa, and backups don't save playlists. Is there something that I'm failing to understand?

I'm just doing to give this a little bump...

In particular, I'm thinking about how I would transfer playlists that I've made on my phone itself back to iTunes or to a different device.
