Does anyone know of a good working PS1 emulator? Yes, I have the actual console. Yes I suppose I could set it up. But still!

I've tried FlareStorm 2 and PCSX, but FS2 had glitchy graphics and no sound and PCSX crashed right when I asked it to run the CD.

I think they're a few years old, especially PCSX. So maybe it's a Leopard thing.

I have one for Windows and it works great, but I just don't want to have to keep restarting into Windows to use it. :)

But anyway... anyone?

I had no luck with PCSX too. I couldn't even get the Xbox PS1 emulator running properly. There's probably some trick or file with both that I'm getting wrong.

There's got to be a working one out there...

Or how about.... someone could fix PCSX? Please? Someone code? I will reward you with gratitude? The source code is on the website.

Annnnnd............ go coders go!

I feel the exact same way. I tried using crossover and vmware fusion to run my games and still no luck. I don't want an emulator that has to run .iso images. I love pcsx because it can accept my actual psx discs. Someone please get this running on leopard. I want to play fear effect at school between classes.

I miss Virtual GameStation. Stupid Classic-only apps (BOOTED in OS 9 only, even, that app wouldn't work in Classic under OS X either). It wasn't fancy, but it got the job done pretty damn well.

I run PCSX on leopard with really no problem except on a few games. First you have to install the psx bios which can be found online somewhere... But be sure to disable "Dynarec CPU Core" in the preferences...this is how i got mine to work. Hope that helps!

i am using the bios and disabled that core thing but i closes as soon is i try to run my game. I have tried both scph1001 and scph7502 and neither work. if it helps i am trying to play Fear Effect from my actual game disc. Lets hope we get this resolved.

I agree, we need a working high quality PSX1 emulator for Leopard that will play actual disks and .ISO :) I have tried every known PSX1 emulator out there for OSX and none of them were truly remarkable, at least for Final Fantasy VII/VIII and Metal Gear Solid, the only 3 games I care to emulate.

Yeah, we definitely need an updated emulator for Leopard, I really really really wanna play FFVIII again :D

Anyone take a look at MESS? I think there is a mac GUI here.

I have never tried it, nor can I speak of the emulator performance. I have only heard about it.

I still have Connectix Virtual Game Station at home; phenomenal software, shame that it is OS 9 only :-(

I have been using FlareStorm 2 to play Final Fantasy Tactics, and it crashes pretty often. So I just make save states often, I never lose more than 5 min of play time. Also, the program makes a crash freeze state every time it crashes, and they usually load right up at where it crashed. Occasionally the program stops responding or unexpectedly quits, but it is all worth it for the FFT. If anyone knows about the setting on Flarestorm, and how I could get it to crash less often that would be awesome. There are some slider knobs in the preferences under processor when you configure it, I have no idea what they do.

I run PCSX on 10.6 (Snow Leopard), and about the only "out of the ordinary" problem I have is that it crashes everytime I try to save a save state. Crashes everytime like clockwork. I'm pretty sure there's no solution to this since this emulator's pretty old but if there's any suggestions out there I'd love to hear 'em.

awwww shucks

So i need the actual CD to play the games on the mac? I can't download the BIOS and the game data, like the game data for PSP, and run it that way? That's a major bummer....

Is there any work-around to this? I mean I know I can download other video games but if it's an emulation I can't? That doesn't seem to make any sense at all...

There's a CD plugin for PCSX that replaces the play CD option with a browse for an ISO/BIN. This isn't hard to find with google.

I wish someone would port ePSXe to OSX. It's one of the only reasons I boot into Windows every now and again. I'm sure a good port would run even better under OSX than Vista, as Vista has a tendency to hog the processor and make the frame rates choppy on my computer if I've had applications running before I run ePSXe (even if I close the other applications).

PPC build, UB build & cdr-mooby plugin are all here

*Even though you can play with an iso, you should own the game too

how do I....?

Hiya, I have everything installed and I think I followed everyone's advice correctly but I don't know how to add a real playstation BIOS to PCSX on my MacBook. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thankkkks

PCSX-reloaded

Hey I came across this thread and struggled with PCSX for a while on my mac before discovering PCSX-reloaded, a new project that works much much better for mac, and probably for everything. So google for it, it works 'out of the box'.
