I moved to iPhones when they started making the plus sizes , was having 6 plus , 7 plus ( usually a 2 year upgrader ) so when I thought of upgrading to XS Max I was happy that they announced 6.5’ max so thought of having some hands on in the store . To my surprise I felt my 7 plus was having more screen and was more readable but still went on to upgrading myself to XS Max . Now using XS Max for last 9 months. I am not happy with the max’s Height and width ratio and I still lik the 7plus’s screen estates

Please apple please take care of this , won’t bother if it’s 6.5 or 6.9 but reduce few mm from height and add that to width

I think the issue is that most people use their phone in portrait orientation, so reducing the size in height will be detrimental and if the width increased then holding the device within a palm will become even harder. It’s just a happy medium at present and of course not preferable to everyone.

While I sort of understand why Apple do this, I agree with you completely. I find the height/width ratio of my XR unsatisfactory, compounded more so by the thicker bezels. I wish the device was just a few mm wider, or the bezels a few mm thinner. It’s scarcely a one-handed device as it stands currently; a few extra mm wouldn’t hurt it, IMO.
