I recently moved to my new laptop, and I learned a lot in the process about how to do it better next time. I also see the great value of having an efficient backup solution like Time Capsule as opposed to relying solely on manually restoring files from my cloud backup.
So, please confirm if this is how things will work with Time Capsule and Time Machine. I have Filevault 2 turned on.
*My first backup will be with a direct ethernet connection (can I use usb?)
*Then, it will work wirelessly in the background as normal, entirely the same as for a system without Filevault turned on
*If my computer blows up and I have to do a full restore, I can connect directly again by the ethernet cord (wireless is too slow), CMD-R the new computer, and do Migration Assistant from the Time Capsule (and there won't be any problems since the backup is from a Filevault machine, assuming of course that I know the password).
Also, I was wondering if I need to do the additional Time Machine encryption option if I'm already using Filevault.
Thanks.
