I went to the store bought a Verizon iphone 6+ under my verizon account # and paid full price. I know Verizon phones are unlocked due to regulations. but I asked the employee anyways if the phone is unlocked. He told me it's not unlocked but its unlocked for GSM network. What does that even mean???

Second part of his comment is true. It's unlocked for any GSM carrier.

CDMA is locked. So it won't work on Sprint. GSM is unlocked. So it will work on T Mobile, AT&T, etc. In a few years, no US carriers will be using CDMA. It will all be GSM whether LTE or VoLTE.
