I don't believe I've ever made that blanket statement.
SOME people jailbreak to pirate apps. And MANY Apple users with stock iPhones BELIEVE that ANYONE who jailbreaks does it solely to pirate apps.
But I have NEVER said that ANYONE who jailbreaks does it ONLY to pirate apps.
Making a statement like that would necessarily include myself and many people here who I've known for some time. And since neither they nor I jailbreak to pirate apps (or at least not solely for that purpose) this would be a false statement if I made it - which I haven't.

Really it mostly relates to what you wish you could do (or perhaps even need to be able to do) with your device but can't for some reason with the stock OS.

I have read a fair few of Eric's posts here and that certainly doesn't sound like something he would say.
App pirating was proliferate back in the Installous days but I don't hear much about it these days. And I've never had somebody openly ask me if I jailbreak to steal apps.

AppInfo, which still works in iOS 9.0.2.
Eclipse3 and NoSlowAnimations are my key tweaks. You could take everything else away and I'd still keep my jailbreak over iOS 10.
The things I really missed most during my lengthy time "jailed" were:
TetherMe
AskToCall (not updated past IOS 7; now using AskBeforeCalling)
f.lux (9.3's Night Shift gave some respite; still not as good)
CCSettings (now using FlipControlCenter with more options)
A couple of new ones I'm enjoying a lot:
AlarmVolume (alarms / timers slowly fade-in to a predetermined volume regardless of volume settings on phone)
True HD (allows videos to be uploaded in HD to YouTube while on cellular)

This is a simple thing to answer. Just ask yourself a couple questions.
Does my phone not do what I wish it did?
What does my phone do that really bugs me.
If you have some answers to those questions and are somewhat technical savy, then jailbreaking might be right for you.
You shouldn't have to have other people give you reasons to jailbreak or have others justify it either.
Does stock iOS do it for you? If not, jailbreak.

If you're happy with stock iOS and having not much customization don't jailbreak. If you want more control over the look and feel of your phone jailbreak
I just jail broke my 6 plus a few weeks ago when the 9.3.3 jailbreak came out and so happy I did. I love it so much I may not upgrade to the iPhone 7 until a jailbreak is released for iOS 10!

Clipshot works!? It had stopped working in iOS 8, so I never bothered to try it in iOS 9

I use it to remove the screen flash, so I decided to check to see if it was working by seeing if it would ask me where to store the screenshot (I normally just have it sent to the camera roll). A respring and it did indeed ask me so I know it's working.
Sucks that it's not on 9.3.3 though.
NO PLS RECOVERY works? Not sure it's a tweak you want to be unsure on and have to restore.

LockHTML4 has custom on screen time settings.
You can remove 20 Second lock screen tweak.
