i have a restore image of 10.5 from a ppc ibook g4. the machine i want to restore it to has the same specs as the image. the only difference is my ibook g4 is running 10.4.11. im wondering if its ok to restore the 10.5 image over 10.4? i know ill loose everything thats not backed up elsewhere. i dont have any restore disk for my machine because it was bought second hand off ebay. please respond quickly.

Not really relevant but today I used SuperDuper on a Macbook with Lion to clone a 10.4.11 image from a 466MHz G4 tower to a 1GHz eMac over a botched Panther installation via Firewire.

Also used that eMac to install 10.5 Leopard from the original Leopard retail DVD to the same G4 tower over Firewire a year ago.

I'd say back up and give it a go.

Is there some way for me to make a restore disk to reinstall the os should i end up with a bad system and not able to boot to it?
