Hi there,
Apologies in advance, I'm an amateur.
My mac air couldn't get past the grey screen on start-up. I tried to safe boot and NVRAM/PRAM reset, but neither would work.
In disk utility, first aid says there's an "invalid index key" and that I need to back-up, reformat and restore ("repair disk" didn't work).
I have a 1TB toshiba external HD, which I formatted with 1 GUID partition and Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
I go to "Restore," source is Macintosh HD and Destination my Toshiba partition.
It has a think, then tells me, "Could not restore - input/output error."
Whyyyyyy?
