Hi there, and thanks for the help in advance!

me and a mate are having to apply subtitles to a piece of film and are using final cut express... we desperately trying to apply effects to our subtitles to make them standout more but have no idea how to. Even when we try to italicize just one word, it italicizes the whole sentence.... can anybody help?

thanks everyone!

Haha, Final Cut Express is definitely not the tool for this. :p

BUT, that being said, there are ways around it. You can create different layers of text, so you can create ONE layer with the italicized word, and another layer with the rest of the sentence. Remember, layers are your best friends!

As for effects, again, there's not much you can do. You can use some transition effects if you want. Just go find your video transitions, and apply an effect to see how it looks.

Hope that helps. I think even iMovie is better for text based stuff.

Only if you had either Motion or After Effects...You could do a lot more...
