Please Help Disassemble PowerBook

I want to repaint the outer besel with specially formulated plastic paint, but I need to know the correct way to disassemble the PB in order to get the outer bezel away from the rest of the PB for painting. I consider myself very talented at technical tasks, so it won't be a problem. Below is a pic of an unknown eBay PowerBook for an example. The light silver outer rim is the outer bezel. - Thanks

Hmm... Have you looked through the iFixit Guides for some cool pictures? Good luck with it, I'm sure you'll do it well.

Yes mad jew, the iFixit Guides are awsome, however their instructions are for independent component removal and not for entire disassembly. For example: they describe how to remove the lower case assembly, but not the upper case assembly. And since the outer bezel in between the two, I'm going to need to remove the upper case as well.

I have a nagging suspicion that the upper case (AKA palm rest) is the last thing to get to; meaning, everything else has to come out first.

You are right - unlike the later albooks everthing on the Ti's are attached to the top case and it is disassembled from the bottom. Get the ifixit guide to remove the screen. You have to remove just about everything to remove the screen - logic board etc... and you'll be left with just the top case. The palmrest cannot be seperated from the side part so will need to be taped up.

Yeah, you can't take the top apart I've found.

That's what I was affraid of, but the iFixit Guide for removing the screen will get me through it. Thank you for the information.

Yeah it's nice to know that the bezel is attatched to the upper case and can't be separated. And I'm pretty sure that it's not going to be white, probably silver to match the screen bezel.
