I love the handwashing feature as well as the countdown.

However, ever since the last update or so, my Apple Watch has been bugging me about interrupted/incomplete handwashing when I'm not even washing hands. It's getting out of control and downright annoying.

I brush my hair, my Watch: "Handwashing stopped. What happened?"
I make the bed, my Watch: "Handwashing stopped. What happened?"
I play with my cat, my Watch: "Handwashing stopped. What happened?"
I cook dinner, my Watch: "Handwashing stopped. What happened?"
I wave hello to my neighbor, my Watch: "Handwashing stopped. What happened?"

What's even more annoying is that previous versions did not bug me about it as much or at all.

Is there no setting to regulate this stupid behavior??

You can try re-pairing your watch, pair and set up as new, if you want to try and fix the notifications, or turn handwashing notifications off by going to the watch app on the phone > handwashing > notifications > off.

It seems this new ‘feature’ was introduced in the latest update to watch OS and you’re correct, it IS a nuisance. The only thing ’ve found is there might be some ‘learning’ set up so if you respond to the questions it will eventually learn and stop asking (maybe). Certainly I’m getting less ‘nagged’ than I was.

I looked for this for a while, just figured it out.

You disable it on settings on the watch itself, not the phone watch app.

On the watch itself go to Settings > Handwashing and if you've previously opted into sharing this data it will have a switch to disable it. I just turned mine off 10 minutes ago and now that switch is no longer there so I can't tell you exactly what it said. It was about that though. Good luck!
