Call O2 Customer Services. They should be able to unlock your phone for you, following you meet the requirements.

Pay Monthly customers
Yes. If you're a Pay Monthly customer, then you can unlock your iPhone at anytime for free. This doesn’t affect your contract though – you’ll still need to see out the rest of it.

To unlock your phone, just fill out this unlocking form and they’ll do the rest.

Once we’ve got your form, it’ll then take up to 14 days for them to get it unlocked for you. Once it’s unlocked, they’ll text you to let you know. You can then put a non-O2 Sim into the iPhone and connect it to iTunes. iTunes will then tell you the phone is unlocked.

Pay & Go customers
Yes, you can unlock your iPhone. You’ll need to pay a £15 one off fee and they’ll take this from the credit on your phone.

If you’re unlocking your phone less than 12 months after you bought it, they’ll take off the free Web & Wi-Fi Bolt On (that we added for the first 12 months). If you want to keep the Bolt On (it costs £10 a month), just choose the option when you’re filling out the unlocking form. Find out more about the Web & Wi-Fi Bolt on here

Business customers
Yes. If you're the main account holder, you can ask your individual users to complete the unlocking form and they'll unlock the iPhone free of charge. This doesn’t affect your contract though – you’ll still need to see out the rest of it.

Your only options are either to request an unlock from O2 (as detailed above), or to upgrade to the iPad baseband and therefore lose your GPS (this requires a jailbreak). Your current baseband cannot be unlocked in any other way, and you cannot downgrade basebands.

I suggest you contact O2 as that's really your best option. But if you want to pursue unlocking via the iPad baseband, there are a number of threads related to the process in the iPhone Hacks section.

WOW
