Whenever I restore my iPhone 3GS to its factory settings (and hence updating to 5.1.1), it works. But when I try to restore from my backup from last night (which had 4.3.3), the bar on the iPhone (with the Apple symbol above it) stops at 1/10 of the way and never goes through. I left it for 12 hours last night and the bar didn't move AT ALL. Any tips on what I can do or if this is a common problem that has a simple fix?

Sounds like there's a problem/bug with that particular backup file you're trying to use.
See if you have any other previous backups to use instead.

I think this was the problem, thanks for the suggestion! Good thing my other backup was only 8 hours previous from the other backup. Thanks for your tips, don't know what else I would have done
