So here's the scoop..I'm new to computers..I'm a dj..I have an ibook,i'm using an 80 gig external to store my library of music..I have almost 7000 mp3's in there..Last week i updated the software in my iBook without any knowledge of how iTunes works..in otherwords my iTunes folders and playlists were blank, when prior to that i had all my mp3's tagged, seperated and organised within 93 playlists (virtual record crates)..
I flipped out and almost cried, eventhough my files are still in my external..It took me months to organise all those playlists..Fortunatley i have a good friend who came over and pointed out that the 'XML' file data is what handles all that..so we re-imported that data and wa-la,'most' of all the crate info was there..there's now 6628 files in the playlists?..what happened to the rest that made up almost 7000?..I've gone through and noticed there are chunks of songs missing out of albums,playlists,etc..
I checked my external, the files are still there..if i click on them,it puts them back in the player..However,there's so many songs within the vast sea of files, that it will take me forever to go by hand and manually locate all the peppered files that are mysteriously gone from my player..The only thing i thought was that during my re-importing of the xml file,it went into the mode of analyizing the tracks, gapless playback,etc..my friend pushed stop in the middle of that and said i did'nt need to worry about that..well i insisted that we did and we re-started the analysis of all those tracks..
Anyhow..why are 'some' of my songs not in my player?..what do i need to do to import 'all' of them into the player,so i won't have to do it manually?..Like i said,i'm a real rookie with computers..This is a timely issue due to the fact that i dj professionally for a living and i hav mix cd's to produce asap for promotional purpouses..Any help would be appreciated immensely..Thanks, Mez
