Hey guys, I recently got an iPhone 3GS from a friend. It said it was deactivated and to plug it in to itunes, so I did. When I plugged it in, it said to enter a password on the phone. It doesn't give me the choice to put a password in, all I can really do is emergency call. I tried going into recovery mode but the power/sleep button doesn't work. I've also tried Recboot, TinyUmbrella, etc. Are there any more ways to fix this or should I just give it back to my friend?

Thanks for the help.

Speak to your friend to ensure his/her network have not locked out the iPhone.

It will also probably be locked out to the network they was using too.

You need to check what your baseband and firmware is and then post it here or google it.

No gevey for a 3GS.
Depending on baseband its on or the serial number you might be able to unlock using the ipad bb.
Plug it to Tinyumbrella, it will tell you what firmware and baseband its on right now.

I know how to unlock, I just can't get into the phone. My question was how can I get it into recovery mode without using the power button, because it's deactivated. Everywhere I go it just tells me to put into recovery mode and restore, but I can't get it into recovery mode.
