Please Help, I'm so confused with my printer

Hi everyone
I hope someone can help, I see such brilliant answers sometimes on here, so I do hope someone will be able to offer me such advice!
I have a lexmark p4350 printer, I can get the test pages and alignment pages to print, but nothing else?!
I've been on the lexmark sight and followed their tutorials... so does anyone have any ideas why it should print from test, but not from textedit?
