I made a very big mistake.

I was told spirit jailbroke 3.1.3 so i went ahead and ran the program

on my iphone 3gs : 32 GB jailbroken with blackra1in with 3.1.2 firmware
(5.11.07)

i tried everything - reran blackra1in it still stuck on the recovery mode

i tried redsn0w 0.94 i tried custom firmware - 3.1.3 gave me 16** errors. I tried restoring to 3.1.2 it gave me a not eligible for required build error. I have no shsh on file.

I dont know what to do.. besides updating to 3.1.3

thanks in advance!

I upgraded to 3.1.3 and used spirit to JB.

is it , and do you need it, unlocked?...as it clearly states on the spirit website you must not run it if you have also used blacksn0w or have tethered JB previously...first you must restore.
here is a 'last-ditch effort' linked to by Comex(i guess) from the Spirit site for people in your situation.
Do some research before hacking next time...it will go a lot smoother.

Ok

I tried the last ditch method , however it stuck with the -3 error like it suppose to. then I tried irecovery and ireb but the 3gs was still stuck in recovery mode. I tried holding the power and home keys . Still no help. it won't budge out of recovery mode. I tried the custom 3.1.3 ISPw after the modified ispsw and recieved a 1604 error.

Thanks in advanced...

Do this.

Keep iphone unplugged
Press both home and power till screen goes black. (Switch Off)
then press home button and connect to usb and keep the home pressed until you get the restore with itunes logo.
do shift restore and select custom 3.1.3 firmware if you want to keep the 5:11:07 baseband for unlock.
Ensure you sync one app and then run spirit jailbreak

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

OP: if you have a 3Gs with new bootrom (which im guessing you do as you ran spirit on an already JB phone) , you cannot restore to a custom FW...
I am very surprised Navigates did not mention this. maybe he has a grudge against you or something

Wait, you used Spirit on an already Jailbroken device?

he is not the 1st that's why Comex had it on his front page. I am willing to guess he won't be the last. why people don't realize mixing jailbreaks is like mixing medicines is beyond me. TS I think trying to get it in DFU mode starting fresh and redoing with Spirit might be the only hope.

agreed, which means you will loose your unlock if you need it...but only for a few weeks until the promised tools are released.

The right way?

What it the right way to use Spirit?

I have 3GS, 3.1.2 blackra1n'ed and tired of having to watch the battery all the time. Does Spirit fix the issue?

More then likely it's the stuff you are running. Blackra1n it's self will not cause battery issues. what JB applications are you running. etc.

Thanks for replying, labman.

I meant to say that tethered jailbreak by blackra1n is not very convenient.

Does having is jailbroken with Spirit reosolve the issue or having to always keep your phone from running out of power?
