please help, iphone 4s error 1604

i bought an iphone off ebay
person stated he believed it was jailbroken but thinks he unjailbroke it
i have had it for a while with no issues and all of a sudden did an update and im running into problems:

my iphone 4s now is stuck on plug into itunes screen.
i tried restoring and it gives me error 1603 and 1604 (not together they just alternate)
is there anything i can do. is there any other programs to download that FORCE restore it. i have tried downloading the firmware and shift clicking to restore but no luck there.
i have also tried to use iReb to pwn DFU mode it- thats when i started getting error 1604 instead of 1603
please help!

Hi, i got error 1601 and i fix it with iReb
You can also do that if you have error 1600-1604
