iPod touch please help ipod touch 1st gen

i restored my ipod 32gb 1st gen from the ipod, reset all settings, now it wont go past the apple logo, it also has the loading bit spinning around, it will not charge anymore either, i did try holding the sleep + off button and yes it turns off but just goes back onto the apple logo with the loading circle, it will not pick up when i connect to the pc, so itunes cant sort it,
is my ipod dead? i already have a dead 8gb ipod, when the apple logo and loading circle is on the loading circle stops and freezes

Was it jailbroken? And have you tried putting into DFU mode then restoring?

Sounds like it's time to go ahead and take that plunge -- get a new one.
