Dammit! Used this before on a 22" late 2012 w/ mavericks. Just setup a custom 3840x2160 hidpi (1920x1080) and after selecting it as resolution through switchresx panel the screen went black. If I hold the power button down I get the grey bootdown screen and sound, but then nothing again. F*&k me. Anyway to get to some sort of 'safe mode' to remove the switch res x?? This isn't something apple support is going to help me with, and switchresx has no support (one guy team apparently.)

It isn't bricked. Turn it off, then start it up while holding the shift key. It'll take a bit long to boot up, that's because it's running in Safe Boot mode. Then once it's fully started up, completely uninstall SwitchResX.

Intell thanks for the quick response. Got to safe mode, now can't seem to get rid of switchresx. Removed it from systems pane. it's not showing up in the applications folder in finder. When I try to reboot normally, i still get the blank screen.

Nevermind I figured it out. Got rid of the damn thing. What a pain. Thanks again.
