Hey all , I just registered today to see if anyone can help me. The Mac repair shop in town said there was no solution but to replace logic board for $650. I feel like this can't be right.

I have a mid 13 mac air i7, 8gb ( upgraded from 4GB ), 256ssd . It used to be lightening fast until 2 weeks ago. The screen as of last month started getting lines that would run across the screen, it would work fine but there was an obvious issue with the screen, i took it in to a mac repair place and i was advised to have the screen assembly replaced . I purchased the screen assembly online , brought it in and the shop replaced the screen and now it runs slower then ever. The screen is perfect but the computer is very slow
The CPU has 300-500% kernel_task usage.

He reinstalled a fresh copy of OS and nothing , checked everything for any signs of water damage and nothing .Now he is saying the logic board needs replace

I ran a hardware test and it came back with
-There may be an issue with the POWER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM PPP007
-There may be an issue with the SYSTEM MANAGEMENT CONTROLLER PFM006

Please let me know what you think

I think there is something wrong with one or more of the smc chips on the board.

I think you need to find a tech that can perform board-level testing and repairs.

The fans may spin at full speed at all times if the board has been exposed to liquid.
