I've been with Verizon for 14 years. I currently have two lines, both on the 5G Play More Plan. The only perk we use is Disney+ (so something like $16/month in value).

We both have iphone 15 Pros that we've paid off, so we could theoretically sell them to Gazelle for like $440.

Verizon is offering the full trade-in value of a new 17 Pro (1100) if we trade our 15 Pros and move our lines to the Ultimate Unlimited plan, which looks to be $80 month (w/ auto pay), so $160/month plus fees for both lines.
Until this month I had some loyalty discount that was taking $20 off my bill each month, so I was paying $146. That loyalty discount just dropped off and my newest bill is for $172.

My question is: can I still get them to give me a loyalty discount? If I move to the Unlimited plan would they offer a loyalty discount? And if not, is it worth moving to the Unlimited plan anyway, even if it's a bit more money, since we would be getting so much in savings by trading in our phones and getting the new ones free? Anything I'm missing here? Thanks!

Yes, Unlimited Ultimate is $80 per line for two lines. Keep in mind that this doesn't include any built-in perks like the 5G Play More plan does. So if you still want the Disney+ bundle, you'll need to add that back in for another $10. Also, the Disney+ portion of the new bundle has ads; the old bundle from the 5G Play More plan does not.

Verizon discontinued a lot of the loyalty discounts this month, so you're unlikely to get that back.

You'll just need to crunch out the numbers over a three year period for various upgrade options to see what ends up being the best for your situation.

How much will you spend over a three year period if you...
  • buy the phones outright and keep your current plan (and trade-in sell your current phones)?
  • switch plans on both lines to get "free" phones?
  • keep one line on the 5G Play More plan (so you can keep the old Disney+ bundle), and upgrade the other line for a free phone?
  • keep one line on 5G Play More and downgrade the other line if you don't really need Unlimited Ultimate or 5G Play More?
  • etc...

Thank you for all of that! Strangely I was able to add a loyalty discount back onto my account right from the app…it apparently expires in one year from now. My concern would be if I move over to UU would it drop that discount? I’m leaning towards just buying the new phones outright and hanging onto my current plans; I went through the checkout process and Verizon basically pulls a bait and switch. also, since its 36 months, id have to pay off the remaining balance if I want to upgrade before then (which I likely will).

The Disney+ perk I have now with my plan is ad-free plus Hulu and ESPN with ads. Only concern would be them deciding to revoke that perk to try and push me off the plan.

I was tired of paying $$$ for Verizon service so I went with Visible which uses Verizon towers for $15/month.

Plus $10/month for my cellular AW.
