I am experiencing a really tough time of it with Photos.app and iCloud Photo Library. I have upgraded my storage to 200gb on iCloud, and enabled iCloud Photo Library on my Photos.app on Yosemite.

For the last month it has been uploading my library and has managed around 10,000 uploads dating back to 2011. But it simply will not upload further back than 2011. All my photos from 2006-2010 do not upload to iCloud.

I have tried everything I can imagine. Repairing disk permissions, resetting user account UCLs, turning off iCloud Photo Library and turning it back on, repairing the library in Photos.

Even though I only have 20,000 photos in my library and 10,000 are in iCloud, it is stuck on "Uploading 23,318". Whenever I have turned iCloud Photo Library on and off again, it starts from about 28,000 and gets down to a fixed number from where it does not change.

Moreover, whilst some recent photos from iPhone and iPad have downloaded to the Mac client, it is very incomplete. Most photos from 2015 have not downloaded. Syncing recent pictures from iPhone to iPad works fine, and from iPhone/iPad to iCloud.com. But they all only go back to 2011 from my Mac pics.

I am at a loss now. My internet connection speed is 80mb down/20mb up. It seems there are corrupted files in my library that are halting the process in both directions. It doesn't want to download new files until it's finished uploading, but the upload cannot finish.

I thought I would import my iPhone camera roll to Photos, then try and nuke iCloud Photo Library and start again. But if I do this, my iPhone photos are imported unedited. No adjustments, filters etc come across. Moreover some dates don't seem to copy over. And even still I don't think it's possible to reset iCloud Photos server side, and if I don't I'm worried there will be duplicates of edited/unedited.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can overcome this really frustrating problem? I really feel more sad than anything that weeks and weeks have elapsed and nothing has improved. :(

And I genuinely can't think of how to resolve this. I think it needs a serious, almost hacky approach to get it sorted.

Many thanks to any genius who can offer some suggestions.
