Hey all.

I have had this little companion for over 3 years now and the Disc Drive has broke. It won't read or write anything and the Mac Mini itself is due a nice refresh install of the OSX.

However due to my drive being broke I cannot do it...

Is it possible to do it without my disc drive? like put the osx on an external HDD or something?

The thing is I don't have an external Disc reader or any other applicable its where it could act as another disc drive...

Please help me as my Mac may as well be thrown away if I cannot reinstall the osx. :(

Thank you in advance.

A USB optical drive can be had for ten bucks. Yes, that's 10 dollars. All you have to do is be patient while it comes by snail mail. If you can't wait, MicroCenter stocks them starting at $30, BestBuy has them starting at $49 and even at Apple you don't have to pay more than $79 for one.

I don't think they come by that cheap here in the UK... :/

But yeah, if that is the only way I am going to be able to reinstall my OSX then I guess I better invest. I just kinda wanted it done like now... haha.
