Issue with my 17 PM is all of the sudden Always on display ( Wallpaper background off ) goes off, I did all normal stuff like restart etc but not resolved, so visited Apple Store, Genius girl said this is software glitch, I will do the factory reset,

Since I am still on the last day of return/ replacement period, I asked her to replace it, but the Silver color PM was unable & they don’t have procedure to inform me, availability of the device, she changed my replacement date from 14 days to 30 days,

She said let me factory reset, If you face issue again, make online order and come with new phone for returning this phone, I agreed & she made full reset,

Today I faced same same issue, I called Apple support & they stated replacement procedure,

My confusion is should I take replacement unit? ( I don’t it will be new unit or refurbished )even if it will be new I will never know & I will not feel happy,

Another option is to go with I ordered new unit, which will come between 12 to 17 November,

My third option is to monitor after update of 26.1 & if not facing issues, not to go for replacement or newer,

Please advise what is the right thing to do.

If you replace it within your return window, it should be a new unit, not refurbished. Personally, I would take them up on the replacement. You can just confirm with them before you accept the replacement (the refurbs come in a plain box, not a retail box, so it's easy to tell). You could also stalk your local Apple Store inventory if you want to make sure to get a new phone. Although shipping is Nov 12-17, stock in stores changes daily in many (most/all?) locations. I was facing the same ordering delay and after a day or so I was able to lock onto a phone for local pickup. It sounds like they are being very accommodating on extending your return window to make things right. Good luck!

I think they processed replacement under Apple Care plus express replacement, ( I bought phone from Apple Store ) so chances of getting replacement unit in plain box not retail unit, on phone call with them they said it will be new unit and about packaging, they don’t have idea, it’s different department who process this, so as you suggest, I will try to go with new unit if I find it in store or wait for the dates of 12 to 17, appreciate your suggestions and advice, thank you so much
