hello macrumors,

I need your help.

I have an old iBook G4 1.42Hz from the 2004-2005 era. I never really had problems with it until recently. I get random crashes all the time.

It always happen when I'm on battery and never seems to happen when my laptop is charging/plugged. I don't get any warning at all, everything just go black and the laptop is shutted down. I cannot seem to reboot it while on battery, I have to plug it to reboot. the crash seems to happen always around 75%-85% of my battery use.

My guess is the battery is having troubles. I don't use the original battery, it's some third party battery I bought about a year ago.

is there any way to confirm that it is caused by my battery ?? is there anything I can do to "fix" my battery ? help me please.

thanks
