I replaced my 2012 MacBook Pro with a newer (Refurbished) model. Currently I am signed into both with the same Apple ID. The "Late 2016" is just fine. I noticed the the 2012 is syncing with its replacement. (I am assuming, being logged into the same Apple ID will do that).

I want to sign out of my Apple ID with the 2012 Macbook, but I am afraid to delete files on my 2016 version by doing that....

The dialog box is asking if I want to keep a copy (and I have all the icloud apps available). This dialog box is confusing to me. The programmer is in a different dimension than I, Not real sure what the result will be and I am hesitant. In reality, after I sign out, I want to reinstall IOS and prepare the notebook to sell or gift to a family member....

Can anyone offer any help? I have apple support on the 2016 but Apple won't assist with the 2012 as it has run out.

If you sign out of 2012 MBP, as you noticed, it will ask if you want to keep a copy on your computer (i.e. 2012 MBP) or delete it. It has nothing to do with your 2016 MBP.

It simply wants to know if you want to keep the file on your local drive of 2012 or delete the local drive too.
Since you will be doing a clean install and selling 2012 MBP, I would recommend you delete it from your 2012 MBP. That is, answer "delete" when you log out of iCloud with 2012 MBP.

Thanks, Yukari, for your help! I was able to clean, reset and prepare for listing on Internet. I don't remember the size of the SSD. Do you know if I can see the specs without signing in again to an apple account? I know I have 16gb of RAM. It was used for Photoshop CC exclusively.

Thanks again for your prior help!
