I downloaded the cydia app on my ipod touch and it has really slowed down my ipod and i want to remove it. this is my first ipod so im not very savvy in the lingo so if anyone could dumb it down for me, that would be great

Do you want to unjailbreak altogether? If so, backup and restore in iTunes. Otherwise, get a package called CyDelete and just delete Cydia and Winterboard the same way you'd delete any app.

If you want to delete Cydia you will be left without a program to install jailbroken apps. But if you aren't going to be installing jailbroken stuff I suggest you make a backup of your iTouch and then just restore your iTouch to remove the jailbreak. Then restore from your backup.
