Please help! [phone does not sync]

WHAT I DID:
1) Backup iphone to itunes
2) upgrade iphone to ios7
3) tried to sync, said it needed itunes 11.1 - upgraded itunes to 11.1
4) phone (ios7) and itunes (11.1) would not sync.
5) reverted back to latest ios and latest itunes
6) phone does not sync - gets message "itunes was unable to load data class information from sync services."

I have my latest backup from /library/application support/mobilesync - all of the information and data is there - it is just not being recognized as a restore option. Any thoughts? I'm kind of stuck on this one. I would really love to put all of that back onto the phone, in stead of paying for a service to download and extract all the pictures / data. Thanks in advance.

Ps I also realize that I should have backed up to icloud instead of itunes - but its too late!

iCloud is your friend fans. besides that there are some solutions floating around here where you can force your phone to sync with iTunes 11.1 once the GM is installed.
