I recently changed my iTunes music folder location to my external hd, and now my music won't play. It says "The song could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" I've also tried switching it back to the original iTunes folder from my internal hd and it says the same thing when I click on a song to play.

Please someone help me :( I love my music and I hope I haven't lost them :( UGH.

When you say you "Changed your music location to your external..." what exactly did you do?

Did you just move all your MP3s to the external drive? If so, you seem to have forgotten to do the step of telling iTunes where to look for them now.

Try this:

Put all your music back where it was originally.

Go into iTunes preferences and change the location of your library there (point it to whatever folder you WANT to use).

Then run "Consolidate Library..." from the "Advanced" menu and it will move all your music to your new location for you (and keep all your ratings and playcount and what not in tact).
