Just upgraded to leapard and My applications,(safari, idvd) wont open. They bounce but says safiri unexpectedly quit.
Please help!!

Have you done an Upgrade installation or a fresh installation (erased Tiger)?

Have you tried repairing permissions with Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities)?

Any other programs that don't open and just bounce?

When Safari or iDVD tell you, that they unexpectedly quit, there is a button called Report. Click on that and copy the error log and paste it into your reply.
Maybe someone can have a look at it and see what kind of error it is.

What version of Safari do you have (Finder > Applications > Safari > Right Click > Get Info or CMD + I)?

Thanx for the reply.
Im using safari 3.1.2
I upgraded ffrom OSx 10.4 i believe. So i guess it is a fresh install
I didnt erase tiger. (How do i do that?)

After safari quits

After performing an upgrade installation, have you checked for updates? Fully updated you should be running 10.5.6 with Safari 3.2.1, which does require a Security Update if I recall correctly. As for iDVD I believe the latest versions should be 6.0.6 or 7.0.3.

Yeah, I did the repair on disk permissions. Now im doing the software updates now. 672 mb! Wow!!

took care of the updates and all.
Safari is fine.
Idvd wont open. It says i cant use this version of mac osx

What version of iLife is it?

If it came with your PowerMac then it may be to old for Leopard.

An Update install is when the setup only updates the system components (files) to the most recent version and a fresh install is when you remove the previous operating system, which can be chosen during the initial install screen.

So if i do a "FRESH INSTALL" will i have ilife o8?

Only way to get iDVD working on the computer would be to purchase iLife 08 or 09, either of which are supported on Leopard. The Apple Online Store has pulled all copies of iLife 08 and I would assume so have the retail store locations. iLife is available for $79.00 US.
