PLEASE HELP - I am a newb trying to take a screen shot from a movie playing on my MPB, but every time I take the picture, the file shows up as a gray/white checkerboard instead of the actual image. (See attached)

I have tried using

SHIFT+COMMAND+3

and

SHIFT + COMMAND +4

The commands work fine on my MBP, except when trying to do them with a movie playing. All of my software is up to date, but I cannot get it to work. Can anyone please help me get this to work? All help and advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It's supposed to do that, all of Apple's video playing software do that for DRM reasons.

I did this a few years back, and it worked perfect. I never got a checkerboard like this is showing now...
