Recently like a very silly person i thought i had changed my folders into safe places elsewhere and then 'permanently deleted them' from my trash bin, i have the Data Rescue 3 software thankfully and i am trying to recover these files.

I have been asked to run the software from a separate partition to the disk where the items were deleted from, in order to do so i followed the normal routine to create a partition, however my macbook pro crashed on me so i had to do a holding the power button job to turn it off.

Since then i can no longer use the disk utility function, every time i click the + button to bring up a new partition the slider does not work and no matter how large or small i type in for the partition the error message is always the same ''The requested change in partition is too small'.

I am really starting to panic now and can't find help on this issue anywhere and really need these files back ASAP.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, and for the record i have the macbook pro prior to the new release.
