Hi,

Please forgive my lack of knowledge on this, and I've tried searching for this info as well...

I have an Airport Extreme Wireless N Network that I am using.

I'm not sure if I remember correctly, but if I connect a wireless g device to it, will the network use the slower speed?

To be specific, I have to connect an older T-Mobile Hotspot@Home Wireless G Router that I have never opened (finally need the home number service). I'm concerned that because of the wireless G, my network will run at G speeds, at not N.

Is that correct? How can I fix this to make sure that everything is at the proper/fastest speeds?

Thanks so much!

Which version of the airport extreme do you have? I believe everything after the 3rd generation (2009) can do simultaneous dual band, meaning it can broadcast both g and n networks at the same time. Anything before that could only do one network at a time.

Hi,

I believe I have the 2nd gen. Would the only option be to get the newer version?

Thanks!
