I'm at my wits end... I can't figure out WHY this is happening...

Over and over my old emails in my deleted folder get cleared after 1 month out. I'm VEEEEERRRRY aware that when synching on iCloud if ANY of my devices have the setting of Deleted messages "Remove" after 1 month it will happen everywhere.

I have an iPhone, iPad, desktop and laptop. I also have an apple TV. Dear god do i need to do it on the TV as well!?!?

Please help me as I'm currently looking at all four devices that I do email on and they ALL are set for NEVER with deleted messages. SO annoying. Please help me find what I am NOT looking for.. hell.. I went to the online icloud site to see if that someone had its own setting which it doesnt appear to ( and would be STUPID if it did)

What am i not seeing here!?!? any ideas where to look.
 
On iOS devices (iPad and iPhone).

Default account most like is iCloud account that is affected.

Settings, Mail, Advanced. There under “Delete Messages” the Remove field when selected you’ll have the option to set to Never.

Yes I get that if you read my post you will see where I have four devices I’m looking at all for and every settings like that on every device. My desktop and my laptop my iPad and my iPhone have all been checked for this multiple times yet it still does it

The. You must have an app that is clearing it out. A rule within an app like Outlook for Mac or for iOS ... maybe an older computing system or maybe something running in a VM with access to your emails ccount ha a setting and it’s doing this.

All else fails contact Apple and have them do a script to find out which devices have a connection to your mailbox.

I guess i'll have to although i have nothing under apple care anymore... so SOOOO frustrating.. i just looked again.. iPad... NOPE... iPhone... NOPE... MacBook... NOPE... iMac NOPE... all are set to never delete trashed messages yet there they go... SOOOOOOOOOOOOO frustrating... and I just looked to see if somehow apple TV has a setting but i sure didnt see it... grrrrrrr...
 
My suggestion is to stop using the Trash as an Archive folder.

I'm aware enough, though, to know that people do this...even with the trash bin on their computers. When I'm working on one for someone I have to ask if it's OK to empty it.

If you want to keep things, keep a separate folder and call it "Almost Trash", "Might be Trash", "Temp" or whatever and store things in it as a staging area for your stuff
Never put anything in the Trash or Deleted Folder that you don't want, ummmm, deleted

I treat Trash just like at home
I have never asked my wife if it was OK to take out the trash and her say, "wait, there are things I put in there to save them".

You didn't mention who your ISP is. Are you using an IMAP account? Xfinity(Comcast) empties trash in one month no matter what how you set up your mail client on each device. The user can set for shorter intervals but not longer. Not sure that you are syncing via iCloud but via IMAP on each device. Agree with previous poster Trash is not a good place to put emails you might need.

Of course it does. As for it being "stupid", it's better to manage the same setting on multiple client devices? Why would you want or need multiple client devices to each comb through a server folder looking for items to delete?

What I'd like is that when i change one device that is tied with my iCloud account that I have the option then to make that the default for ALL my devices tied to that account so that if 4 of the 5 are set to "never delete" and ONE is set to delete it won't delete them on all...

MY ISP is comcast but my email is me.com


I think I'm just going to go with another posters advice and change everything to Archive instead of trash...
