Hi,

i have been trying all day to install windows 7 on my iMac 21.5 mid 2010 model.

I have got two genuine windows iso files, one ultimate and one home premium

I have tried using disk utility to burn them and when running bootcamp, upon restart i get the no bootable device.

I have tried using vmware to virtual windows and used the Windows USB/DVD creator but the burn fails at 99%.

I have tried making a bootable usb drive with bootcamp, using dos command prompt and using windows usb creator. again all i get is no bootable device.

I have ran out of dvd-r's and almost ran out of patience.

Any ideas of what is going on?

I can get access to the shell using refit on startup but don't know if i can boot to install from there

For anyone interested or has same problem here was my work around.

Installed xp off old disc I had. Downloaded sp3 to thumb drive on mac, made a simple registry edit on xp, installed sp3.

Inserted win 7 USB and selected clean install. Xp copied the setup files then rebooted to the win 7 setup.

Hope this helps someone in future
