iPod touch Please help with ipod touch!

Ok can u please help me! my ipod touch home button does not go home! i'm stuck at the music page. the home button does work because if i press it twice the music thing pops out. i tried to turn it off completely but doesn't want to earthier. when i connect it to my computer, the computer says it there but it dose not charge it and the ipod touch dose not show that it connect to the computer! please help!! i can't restore it because i got things in there that are very important and i don't want them to be erased. i can't return it because i brought it from wal-mart and the 30 days pass a long time ago!PLEASE HELP!!!

Press and hold the home button and lock button until the Apple logo appears, does this fix it?

Have you tried resetting- Home + Power? This happens to me all the time. You just have to go through a complete reset every once in a while.
