Please, please, please help! sata pc to osx

Okay!

So, my macbook hard drive fried. I have like 5 PC hard drives. I've called the Mac store and was told that I could convert a PC Sata hard drive to put osx on it and use it in my macbook. I've tried ever step by step guide on the net. The partitions, the formating, the journaled. And I haven't been succesful. I realy don't want to go out and buy a anew hard drive, when I have 5 that I'm told could work.

Post the URL of one that didn't work. Then tell us exactly which step failed, and exactly what the failure was: error message, etc.
