Hey guys!

Next week, we will see the release of the iPad 2 in Europe. My impression is that every single iPad 2 sold in the US has a significant number of issues: backlight bleeding, yellow tint, dead pixels.

So, please, if you have an iPad 2, post your comment here and vote!
If it is possible, post also a picture of your screen if it is perfect, so that we all can see it.
Thanks.

Examples of the problems:

1. Backlight bleeding:

2. Yellow tint / yellow spots (in combination with backlight bleeding):

3. Stuck pixel (red, green or blue) (dead pixels are completely black):

What is a flawless iPad 2?

One of the perfect examples of the panel is:

The iPad 2 on the left is clearly "not flawless", while the iPad 2 on the right is practically flawless:

HOW ABOUT A POLL?????

Perfect?
Not Perfect?

Mine is NOT perfect. Did not notice till I powered it down today. During that when the screen goes all black but is still backlit I can see bleeding in several places around the edge. Oh well. Keep it till they become plentyful (October?) and trade in for a new one.

...

Mine is perfect as far as I can tell. Perhaps it has a backlight bleed, I can't see one but I don't sit on black screens with the brightness cranked either

It's good to know, but could you please post a picture as well if you have one.

My iPad 2 (32 GB white) works great so far.

Now, where can I can a decent screen cleaner, though....

32-Black-AT&T here. Perfect :-D. Faster 3G speeds than my 3GS. I agree about the screen cleaner. The magnets in my Smart Cover are getting weaker already..and never cleaned the screen anyway.

You really need to define "flawless," because I doubt there are any truly perfect iPad2s in existence. Mass produced products fall into two categories, within specification, and outside specification. But that acceptable specification can be wide or narrow for a company and also vary by buyer.

So by flawless do you mean zero light leaks, etc, b/c if so I think you have better odds finding a winning golden ticket to tour Willy Wonka's chocolate factory if that is the case. Prepare for disappointment.

OTOH if you can tolerate a few noticeable but small corner light leaks only visible when the screen is black or letterboxed you should be in good shape.

By "not flawless" I mean panels, which have clear light leaks visible on dark backgrounds, for instance, while watching a movie, or which have yellow spots related to the glue issue.

Almost flawless - panels that have only dead pixels, which is a common problem with all LCD panels.

Flawless means that your iPad 2 does not have clearly visible light leaks, which are disturbing to your eyes while watching movies, and yellow spots.

People check it closely. I had mine since Friday and swore it was fine. I had a dark "wallpaper" and did not notice any glue or bleeding. It was not till I powered mine off, and the screen went black but was still backlit that I noticed mine had an issue.

Be sure! Turn it off, and while its shutting down check it then.

It seems that there are more defective iPad 2's out there.
I am still afraid people are not aware of most issues and do not know where to look for them voting for a flawless product.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8F190 Safari/6533.18.5)

Unit: White iPad2 64GB WiFi

Reason for Investigation: Unit fails to display image when power switch is in O.F.F. position

Findings: NFF (No Fault Found)

Absolutely flawless

Mine has a 'touch' of the backlight bleeding, but not enough to notice until I did the blackscreen test above. And even then at different angles you can't see it at all.

I'm keeping mine. Close enough to perfection for me. :)

Sounds to me like you don't have a problem.

By "not flawless" I mean panels, which have clear light leaks visible on dark backgrounds, for instance, while watching a movie, or which have yellow spots related to the glue issue.

Flawless means that your iPad 2 does not have clearly visible light leaks, which are disturbing to your eyes while watching movies, and yellow spots.

You got it backwards NEVER settle for dead/stuck pixels or visible light bleed during normal operation. Light bleed in a dark close with brightness turned up to max, flawless.

It seems that there are more defective iPad 2's out there.
I am still afraid people are not aware of most issues and do not know where to look for them voting for a flawless product.

Because they have a flawless product. I see an IOS/firmware update that limits the brightness.

I am still afraid that there are clueless people out there with flawless screens that are voting for a flawed product.
