Hi, if possible I don't want to buy Apple dongle which is big. There are some relatively much smaller USB-C/TB3 to USB-A/B adapters. Are they reliable? I use it mainly to connect to storage devices (thus reliability is important) and perhaps a printer. Which do you recommend? Thanks.

Thanks but I am looking for a mini-adapter that has no cable.

Anybody used the very small nonda usb-c to usb a/b adapter? Reliability is important as I use it to connect to storage devices for backuping.

Personally, I prefer to use a proper cable whenever possible, rather than using adapters.

When a compact travel kit is needed that works with both USB-C and USB-A, I then use a single cable and adapter combo, but I go the other way. I use a USB-C cable and a female C to male A adapter. This guarantees I get full performance on the USB-C connection and eliminates the spacing problem when the host has two closely spaced USB-C sockets. I also have a short female A to male C adapter cable from Cable Matters to use with devices with permanently attached USB-A connectors (thumbdrives, ...), though I generally carry a thumbdrive with both USB-A and USB-C connectors.

I've used the nonda USB-C to A adapter without issues on hard drives. However, it blocks the adjacent USB-C port.

I ended up just buying the proper USB-C to USB 3 Micro-B cable. The cost was nearly the same for the adpater vs a new cable.

Thanks but I am looking for a mini-adapter that has no cable.

I'm using these and they work perfectly. You can fit two side by side on my 2018 MBP.
