Hi all

I bought this machine for Logic 8 (and it's great) -
2009 2.66GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon "Nehalem" processor
4 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 with 512MB

but now I have my eyes set on Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2.

I'm a bit of a n00b and don't understand this whole openCL thing with SL.

My budget is $500 USD.

What are my chances of running these types of games with that kind of budget? Any other options in the near future with openCL etc ??

Many thanks in advance and I'm sure you'll get a few extra virgins in heaven by helping me out!!

The Radeon 4870 is a lot better than the GT120 and the GTX 285 is the best of all. Both are available on Apple's online store. go to apple.com/macpro to see benchmarks of the 4870 vs the GT120/130. The GTX 285 is even better still, although since the drivers aren't as optimized as they could be the performance jump in real world use compared to the 4870 is substantial but not what it could be with better drivers.

The GTX 285 is by far the best performing card available but remember it has NO Mini Display Port input so will only work with DVI monitors which is a bit of a farce. Anyone know of any new cards with Mini Display on the horizon?

You'll probably be able to run them fine with the card you've got. Blizzard's pretty accommodating when it comes to specs and your computer is pretty fast already. I suggest you wait and see.
