(Rant On) We are getting to the time frame when many people are trying to decide whether to buy an iPod Touch now or wait until a new one comes out. Please search the forum for this topic before you automatically start a new thread. Right now, I see two threads with this subject on the first page. Keeping duplicate threads out of a forum is the reason there is a search feature.

I am not saying this to anger anyone. In my experience of participating in public forums, it is much more convenient to respond to a subject and make informed decisions if that subject is contained in one thread.

I suggest an administrator call a thread "The official - buy now or wait for next generation" or something like that and make it a sticky post, so people will always see it on the first page.(Rant off) ;)

The problem with your viewpoint is that a person has different feelings of why they should wait or not.

In one thread, everyone's post will be buried under more posts.

it is more efficient for to answer individual threads rather than answering 10 posts about ipod touch 5g in 10 pages of one thread.

Search function will bring up old, out dated threads.

AS Ipod Touch 5g news emerge, more threads will appear because of the hype, there is no point to eliminate the hype by erasing "duplicate:" threads

I usually Google the item before posting. Because the search feature is (in my opinion) quite ineffective. I usually cannot find anything unless I Google it.

Multiple threads are ok, as long as they are not on the exact same thing. Most aren't.

A lot of good comments....a few of mine...

- most forum users are flat out too lazy to search and think their question is "special"
- some threads are pages and pages long, with a lot of nonsense posts. Searching within a thread helps but can still be a pain.
- while IMO, Vbulletin software is the best forum application, the "search" function of Vbulletin is its weakest link. It flat out sucks.
